Local Tips

A tourist-friendly destination, English is widely spoken in Singapore, and tap water is safe to drink. While credit cards and contactless payments are widely accepted, visitors may wish to carry some cash when visiting traditional hawker centres and neighbourhood coffee shops, where smaller vendors may only accept cash or local payment platforms.

The city's tropical climate means warm temperatures throughout the year, so lightweight clothing and regular hydration are recommended when exploring outdoors. Visitors to religious and cultural sites are encouraged to dress respectfully, with covered shoulders and knees where appropriate.
